Finding The New Liberals meant I was able to pour the energy I’d previously spent venting about the shortcomings of government into something constructive. I now have the opportunity to stand and be an agent of change, one who can listen to those in need and represent them, as opposed to our current crop of politicians who have only managed to represent themselves and their mates.
As a young person, I always see people like myself behind a megaphone, marching with signs, demanding change. I never see the old guard in parliament listen to us. It’s time for them to get out of the way, and it’s time for The New Liberals to lead.
In the meantime, having graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Communication (Journalism and PR), I’m a change and communication associate with experience working with a variety of entities ranging from grass roots non-profits and small businesses all the way to a big-four bank.
But that’s now – I’m focussed on the future. It’s a future where I’ll be able to say I played a part in changing this country for the better. The New Liberals and I are here to deconstruct the trickle-down myth that has done so much damage to so many people, and to act urgently to combat the overlapping environmental crises our nation is facing as a result of climate change.
